Kristen Volkland is in business to make a difference.  That’s why her strategic branding and communications agency, Erbach Communications Group (ECG), works with so many clients in the health, education and nonprofit fields.  These mission-driven organizations allow Kristen and her team to use their skills to create real value and positive change. “We seek out organizations that have a real impact in people’s lives – it makes our work rewarding on so many levels,” says Kristen.

Kristen has been making a difference at ECG for over 21 years, first as an employee, and then as an owner when she and her husband, Ernie, purchased the Lyndhurst-based agency from founder Bart Erbach in 2014. Over the years, ECG has evolved to fully embrace digital media in all its forms, while maintaining its command of print to tell a compelling story.

In fact, it was the need to purchase a professional grade high-speed printer that led Kristen and Ernie to UCEDC’s 3% Working Capital Loan Program. The program, supported by Investors Bank, allowed them to borrow $25,000 at just 3% interest with no collateral required.

Kristen was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to apply online and appreciated the flexible, friendly customer service they received from UCEDC loan officer, Mark Leichtling. “When we got the email promoting the program, we figured it was too good to be true. But the whole experience was like a breath of fresh air and couldn’t have come at a better time. We’ve been telling everyone we know about it.”
