Jerry and Chris LaBelle

Name: NYP Corp
Location: Elizabeth, NJ

Back in 1946, two young WWII veterans started a company to supply burlap bags and other textile packaging materials to wholesale nurseries, agricultural packers, industrial companies, and government agencies.  Gerald LaBelle and Nelson Gudema were able to launch their business thanks to a VA certificate that allowed them to purchase surplus materials from the government.

Now, with Gerald’s sons Jerry and Chris LaBelle at the helm and $15 million in sales, NYP Corp continues to grow thanks to its relationship with the government.  But this time, the company is selling its products to government agencies, with the help of UCEDC’s Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC).  Our daily bid-match service brings relevant bidding opportunities from federal and state agencies straight to their in-box.  With government work accounting for 10% of their business, Jerry and Chris look to PTAC for insights and assistance on a regular basis.

“UCEDC  has been vital in assisting NYP Corp in growing our government business.  They are always ready to work with us.  As government continues to grow, businesses like NYP need to expand with them,” says Jerry. “Our entire team stands ready to serve our customers with pride and integrity, as we’ve been doing since 1946. We’re glad we have PTAC as a partner.”
