If you own or manage a business, you have trade secrets.
Many small businesses are unaware of the value of a trade secret until it is lost or stolen. Trade secrets are generally some confidential information or knowledge that you do not want your competitors to
know, such as customer lists, special discounts, recipes, special process, equipment or formulas.
Protecting trade secrets has now become more complex as they are stored on many platforms such as servers, computers, mobile devices as well as on paper in locked cabinets. Trade secrets may even extend to social media platforms such as LinkedIn® and Facebook®.
The workshop will help the business owner and those starting a business identify the potential trade secrets within their own business and learn the steps to both proactively and retroactively protect their trade secrets.

Pat is an intellectual property lawyer and a registered patent attorney with many years of industrial experience in product development and manufacturing. Prior to entering law practice, Pat was a chemist in the pharmaceutical industry, holding positions from bench chemist to research director. While working in consumer products for a Fortune 100 company, she developed a fascination for trademarks and learned the importance of branding.
Pat’s patent practice extends beyond the life sciences, helping clients obtain patents and trademarks in a wide range of products, from clothing to automobile parts, from baby accessories to sporting equipment.
Pat received her B.S. degree in Chemistry from Chatham College of Pittsburgh, her M.B.A. from Fordham University and her J.D from Rutgers School of Law–Newark.
