Entrepreneurial Training Initiative
Entrepreneurial Training
To help New Jersey’s entrepreneurs and small businesses start, run, and grow, UCEDC and the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) have formed a strategic partnership to help entrepreneurs and small business owners assess their readiness, create their own business plans and develop the skills necessary to strategically grow their operations.
This program, the Entrepreneurial Training Initiative (ETI) consists of an entrepreneurial self-assessment tool, a two-part six-session workshop culminating in a completed business plan, and several opportunities to meet with various business professionals for feedback on their plan. Participants will also gain access to small business lenders and receive eighteen months of support from one of our business mentors to help navigate the issues many small businesses encounter.
Business Training
UCEDC wants to see your business succeed. Accordingly, we offer numerous business-oriented workshops, benefiting the start-up company as well as the more established operation.
- Trainings:: In addition to offering its own workshops, UCEDC partners with various like-missioned organizations to bring up-to-date and comprehensive trainings to the community of small business owners. Topics of these seminars are current and deal with the latest issues facing businesses. Subjects range from Basics of Writing a Business Plan, to Procurement Certification to Quickbooks trainings, and all are free of charge.
- Business Mentoring: all UCEDC clients are entitled to a business mentor, one-on-one business counseling customized to meet the specific needs of your business.
- ISO 9000:2001 is a quality management systems training designed to make businesses more competitive globally. This unique program, underwritten by a grant from the NJ Department of Labor, is a year-long, intensive, hands-on training program consisting of classroom instruction and on-site consultation that ultimately leads to ISO 9001 registration.
